Master/Mistress of Moots Manifestoes
Qadira Ayad
Hello OULS Members,
I am excited to run for the position of Mistress of Moots, aiming to bring a fresh, inclusive, and practical approach to our mooting experience. As someone with a strong passion for advocacy and a solid foundation in legal principles, I believe I am well-equipped to enhance our mooting opportunities and support every member’s journey in developing critical legal skills.
If elected, I commit to:
1. Expanding Accessibility – Mooting is a fundamental skill, yet many feel intimidated by it. I plan to introduce beginner-focused workshops and mentorship sessions, making mooting approachable and encouraging new voices to participate.
2. Diverse Opportunities – Beyond traditional moots, I aim to introduce innovative formats, like collaborative and client-based moots, which address real-world issues in law. This will allow members to explore practical applications and develop versatile advocacy skills.
3. Enhanced Feedback – I will ensure constructive and comprehensive feedback from judges and peers, helping participants identify their strengths and areas for improvement. This will make our competitions both competitive and growth-focused.
4. Inter-University Connections – By creating connections with other universities, I intend to arrange friendly inter-university moots. These will give our members exposure to different perspectives and networking opportunities with law students nationwide.
With your support, I am ready to work hard in making our moots engaging, educational, and accessible to everyone at OULS. Let’s create an environment where every member feels empowered to step up and speak out!
Thank you for your consideration.
Yours Faithfully

Dear OULS Members,
I am honoured to submit my candidacy for the position of Mistress of Moots. Although I am new and inexperienced to mooting, I am deeply committed to becoming a barrister and through this position I will be highly motivated to building a welcoming and supportive environment where members of all experience levels can develop their skills and confidence in advocacy.
My enthusiasm for law, coupled with strong organisational skills and dedication to helping others excel, will drive my efforts in delivering informative internal mooting services. I will try my hardest to organise workshops and collaborative practice sessions, as well as providing structured opportunities to learn, practice and receive feedback. This will ensure that all members can improve their legal reasoning, persuasive argumentation and public speaking abilities.
By actively remaining in contact with experienced members and guest mentors, I will try to ensure that each session is valuable, inclusive and builds our expertise as a collective.
I am equally committed to facilitating our society’s participation in external moots. I will work hard to ensure our members are well-prepared by providing resources and materials and by establishing a network of mentors who can guide us toward success in these practices.
With a passion for mooting and a shared commitment to excellence, I am eager to represent our society, cultivate a strong mooting culture and make mooting a rewarding journey for every OULS member.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Azra Gucluer
