Dear OULS member,
Over the past academic year, we have been holding the Gary Slapper Memorial Mooting Competition 2019/2020.
Each and every participant who entered the competition displayed a very high level of written and oral advocacy and should all be proud of their progression through the competition.
We were due to hold the Grand Final of the Competition on the 3rd of April 2020. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the decision was taken to cancel the Grand Final.
Therefore, to determine the overall winners of the competition and the best individual advocate, the mooting coordinators discussed the performances of the finalists from previous rounds with the semi-final judges.
We are therefore pleased to announce...
Winners - Laurie Ketley and Daniel Haygarth
Best Individual Advocate - Daniel Haygarth
We would like to thank the everyone who entered and participated in the competition and everyone who has helped to run it.
It is therefore with a sadness that we end our tenancy as Mooting Coordinators with elections for the OULS Committee coming up in the coming months. Although this is not the way either of us could have imagined ending our tenancy, we are both pleased with the impact we have made on the role.
Kindest regards,
Elise Graham and Harrie Austin-Jones
Mooting Coordinators
